Families come from various villages and professional backgrounds—farmers, teachers, artisans, and shopkeepers. Each family is thoroughly vetted and regularly trained on hosting international guests.

Language & Communication

Our cultural liaison will be available for language support and to facilitate smooth communication. We teach you basic Dzongkha greetings to help break the ice with your family. Don't worry about language barriers—Bhutanese families are incredibly patient and communicative through gestures, demonstrations, and shared laughter!
